Eden is a self-taught, contemporary artist currently based in NY. Her work consists of a variety of mediums, primarily, oil and acrylic paint.

Her work encapsulates the many emotions revolving around the experience of being human, as well as the personal struggles she has faced trying to communicate her emotions with her peers, which was the catalyst for beginning her creative journey. Her work acts as a lifeline between her and the viewer.

Eden’s work depicts striking representations of primarily Black women, and children inhabiting colorful, abstract scenes. Her work focuses on telling stories of love, trauma, healing, and the vast emotions tied into the human journey. Also, challenging society’s definition of what it means to be black. She uses her paintings as a poetic documentary of the human experience.

Her uses oil paint to combine an essentially “realist” approach to the human figure with a collage of "surreal" mixed-medium abstracts and backgrounds, primarily using shades of blue, purple, and pink. She uses a mixture of “Payne’s Gray” and white when painting sections of the women to depict loss, specifically the loss of innocence we all experience as we travel through life. Her depictions of red string tied to her figures’ fingers are a representation of fate, or what we call the “red string of fate,” tying us to a destiny out of our control. Her strings, however, are usually either cut or the other end isn’t attached to anything; it’s her way of taking back some control. She infuses the rawness of abstract art with her love of traditional academic art to create an art language that authentically reflects who she is at her core.
